NO YUCKY ADDED HERBS
Added herbs are not necessary for all the
protective and
healing properties are in the
Calendula, Shea and
Beeswax.
The ingredients:
Calendula Infused Sunflower and Grape Seed Oil, Raw African Shea Butter, Beeswax Pastilles, Vitamin E
Calendula:
Calendula officinalis
,
also known as pot marigold or garden marigold, has been used for centuries to heal wounds and skin irritations.
Calendula has anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, astringent, antifungal, antiviral, and immunostimulant properties making it useful for disinfecting and treating minor wounds.
Due to the presence of cartonoids in it's chemical composition, it has great re-epithelizing properties making it ideal for general healing of the skin tissues. It contains saponins and mucilage making it wonderful for dry ski
n. Calendula is being studied for its anti-cancer properties.
Raw African Shea Butter
Vitellaria paradoxa
(formerly
Butyrospermum parkii
)
African Shea butter is derived from the nut of the Karite tree, found on the savannahs of Africa. The nut is boiled to extract the oil, which is then refined into the Shea butter.
African Shea butter is a natural fatty acid that penetrates skin
to repair at the cellular level.
High in vitamins A and E, African Shea butter provides the skin with essential nutrients that tone and maintain a good balance.
African women have used Shea butter for centuries to treat nipples for breastfeeding!
The components of most seed oils can be divided into two important categories. The first is called the saponifiable fraction which contain most of the moisturizing properties. The second category is called the nonsaponifiable fraction, which contain most of the healing properties. What sets shea butter and oil apart from other seed and nut oils and butters is its exceptionally large nonsaponifiable fraction; containing important nutrients, vitamins and other valuable phytonutrients required for healing. While having an excellent moisturizing fraction, in most other seed oils and butters the healing fraction is very small, often 1% or less. Shea butter, depending on the source and processing methods, has a nonsaponifiable fraction of 5% up to as much as 17%.
Because shea butter has such a high percentage of nonsaponifiables, in addition to its moisturizing qualities, regular use of this natural cream can effectively treat many skin problems.
It is out of these unique healing properties that the Karite tree came to be known as the
Tree of Life .
Shea is high in phenolic compounds which are known to have high anti-oxidant properties. The levels of phenolic compounds in Shea are similar to that of
Green Tea
and
Olive Oil.
