You might need to file the 'latch' locking part a bit by yourself so you can lock and release your lens-hood easier. I found my brand-new hood locked in place a bit too tight so it is hard to take it out.

This is a HB-55 hood Adapter for 77mm ring size lens such as Nikkor 85mm f/1.4 D that enables you to transform a 77mm threaded lens into a Quick release hood lens type.
No more hassle using old style threaded hood lens anymore.
It also has 77mm front thread for you to install your favorite filter.
It is normal to have some play after you lock/click the HB-55 hood on. Please make sure you did not cross-thread when you install this Adapter to your
Nikkor 85mm f/1.4 D
Lens.
