    Description

    These 12 dolls representing various countries of the world were purchased at ARCO (Atlantic Richfield) gas stations for 99 cents each with the purchase of a full tank of gas.  The 7" dolls belong to the "Dolls of the World Collection" and were available from the 1960s into the 1970s, I believe.  They do NOT come with their original boxes.  I believe that this is a full set as I purchased them all together.  The dolls remain in bright and clean condition though some of them sustain flaws from age and storage.  Feathers may be missing from their hats, portions of their outfits may have faded, and their sleep eyes may stick.  Seams may also have UN-stitched along some of the dolls' clothing and stray threads may need snipping.  The doll from Spain sustains cardboard residue on the back of her "Mantilla," possibly from her original box.  This "Dolls of the World" collection is a fascinating glimpse into the past when gas stations offered premiums to their customers.  What nostalgia!
